A Florida seawall cap is the formed concrete structure on the top that ties the seawall together. Seawall caps are constructed with reinforcing steel encased in concrete. If the panels of your Tampa Bay area seawall are inspected and found to be in good shape, but the cap is cracked or crumbling, it may be that we can simply replace the seawall cap.

Replacing Seawall Cap

Florida seawall caps withstand some really harsh marine conditions. Relentless Florida wave action and torrential rain can cause your seawall cap to show signs of age. These signs should not be ignored because they can indicate deeper, structural problems with your seawall. Seawall caps can sometimes be repaired, but in many situations it is best to replace the seawall cap and tie-back rather than putting patches on your existing cap. Repairing Seawall Cap

A seawall can crack for many reasons. It could be due to simple age and natural wear and tear. However, cracks in the cap could be caused by the rusting of the underlying metal elements such as the reinforced steel or tie-backs. If the cracks are minor it may be possible to place a patch on the cap to repair them. But it is critical to identify and repair the cause of the seawall cap deterioration. The cap is a critical component of your seawall. It literally holds the wall panel together. If it fails, the entire structure is subject to collapse.

Tie Back Replacement

Tie-backs are PVC encased steel rods that tie the seawall to large concrete anchors and prevent the seawall from failure due to hydrostatic (water) pressure from behind.
